Vintage extralarge round to oval dining table 'JP2-5' designed by Grete Jalk for furnituremaker Poul Jeppesen, Denmark 1965.
This intricately designed iconic dining table is the epitome of midcentury dining and was designed by one of the grandes dames of Danish Dasign, Grete Jalk. Poul Jeppesen a furnituremaker with a strong heritage in Danish design manufactured it in 1965. This is a rare museumpiece that was luckily saved from demolition and restored to its original function and design.
This table was made in teakwood veneer with an elegant pattern and fine inlay rounded edge. The table legs are seperate and can be dismounted if needed. You can extend the table with 2 extensions if needed from round to oval and from 135 cm to 245 cm hosting up to 12 guests fully extended. Underneath it carries two labels with the Poul Jeppesen Grete Jalk maker's mark.
The overall condition is good with a timeless patina, solid structure and only minor signs of a previous life. The sliding system underneath has been professionally restored. The tabletop itself still shows some light wear: light scratches and some small dents. See pictures for more details.
