Vintage XL matt black halogen desk lamp Tizio Task Light designed by Richard Sapper for Artemide, Italian design from Milan. 

This iconic lamp designed in 1972 enjoys world fame. It received a Compasso d'Oro in 1979 for its groundbreaking high-tech design and is published in the Artemide catalogue of 1973 and 1976.  Richard Sapper is considered one of the most important designers of his generation. His designs are part of the permanent collection of many museums around the world, including the MOMA in New York. 

'Tizio' means 'man', 'someone', 'person' in Italian. Richard Sapper wanted to develop a desk lamp with a small lamp head and long arms. Sapper: 'I didn't want a clamp lamp on my desk and I wanted something that easily turns and swivels in different directions'. This Tizio 50 can be made large or small and placed in any position. Its 2 counterweights keep it in balance at all times. The 12 volt electricity flows safely from the solid base transformer through the metal arms to the beautiful parallelogram lampshade. 

Condition is excellent with only minor signs of use from a previous life. The top counterweight has a barely noticeable chip in the enamel and some vague cracks. See photos.
