Vintage retro round to oval extendable dining table in teak from the 'Fresco' series designed by Viktor Wilkins for the British furniture brand G-plan in 1966.
This iconic table has a very Danish feel and is therefore often attributed to designer Ib Kofod Larsen who worked for G-plan who hired Larsen to compete with the Danish furniture makers. However, it was Victor Bramwell Wilkins who designed this eye-catching XL round table in his Fresco series for G-plan (see old catalog photo).
The Fresco collection contains major influences from Italian and Scandinavian design. With iconic sculpted handles and a striking teak finish, the G Plan Fresco series made huge waves on the furniture market in the 1960s. Among the most sought-after items to this day are the Fresco nesting tables, coffee tables, sideboards and these beautiful extendable 'Fresco' dining table by his hand. Condition is excellent with hardly any signs of wear from a previous life.
